Melo's - Home of Certified Angus Beef

A pioneer of certified angus beef in Manila, Melo's was created by visionary Carmelo "Melo" Santiago. The restaurateur first introduced the finest beef in America to the Philippines in 1988 at the first branch on Pasay Road, Makati. The combination of great food, service, music and ambiance, the then new Melo's restauarant creation was loved and enjoyed by dining connoisseurs, and would soon open two more branches. One on Wilson Street corner P. Guevarra in the city of San Juan, and the third on Sgt. Esguerra Street in Quezon City. A fourth one would eventually open at the first Greenbelt Mall.

After 20 years, new management (second generation Santiago's) and a few relocations, it has stood the test of time with old and new customers still enjoying the same steak the original Melo's served in 1988. Only Quezon City stands the same from the original four. In July 2006, the Greenbelt-One location moved to 22 Jupiter St., Bel-Air, Makati introducing a new look; and a long awaited branch in Westgate Center, Filinvest, Alabang opened in April 2007.

Being known as the "Home of Certified Angus Beef" with the famous ribeye steak cart being brought to customers table side so they may choose the desired thickness of their steak, before its grilled to perfection. The certified angus ribeye cart has become a famous and classic order in Melo's.

In 2007, we introduced to our menu and our steak cart the Wagyu. Wagyu is known to be the source of kobe beef. It is raised in Australia primarily to produce what is known to be the best steak in the world. The price of our wagyu is just slightly higher than our certified angus beef, but the difference in tenderness and quality is remarkable. It has become our new best seller!

Although his children are now managing the restaurants, Melo Santiago still remains highly involved with the business. He continues to guide them and help them with major decisions.

We are currently continuing to modernize the ambiance and decor of the branches.
